I believe because a person suffers from mental Illness, it does not define who they are.

I am a Cancer survior its a physical illness, something I had to have treatment for, the same with any

Illness be it mental or physical, we do what we have to do, to deal with the card thats been dealt to us.

Its my  greates wish to see stigma eradicated regarding mental Illness. The way it is regarding Cancer.

I remember  years ago , when people believed cancer was catching, so people talked about it in whispered tones.

Come on my people, get with the program of acceptance , understanding and empathy, for our mental health consumers.

October 12th, 2009

I am sitting on my bed in the Sheraton Hotel in Harrisburg, PA.
Today is the first anniversary of my daughter Alimah (Tracy)’s
exit from this realm.

I miss her physical presence, but the knowledge that she still exists is very comforting to me.

So Tracy–wherever you are–I know you are improving those powerful and insightful writing skills. I want you to know our experience this time around was a wonderful adventure that was made of so many things–lots of love and laughter–some sorrow.

So until next time around, I’ll be missing you.

Your Mom,
